What Can I Eat Then? - What is a Balanced Healthy Diet?

A different way of eating

"Easy," I thought.

"Cut out some carbohydrates (carbs). stop eating sugary stuff completely, Do more exercise... I'll be fine." Or so I thought. Ha ha ha!

Little did I Realise at the Time - I have a Sugar Addiction.

I have never been a frequent takeaway eater, so it’s not really a problem cutting those out. I cut out fried food. The English do love a fried breakfast (stereotypes, eh?). I generally only had one per week, but that would have to go.

Absolutely no chocolate, no cake, no sweets, no... no crisps, no sugary drinks. No... noooooo! None of it!

I'm Adamant! I'm Strong! I'm Doing This!

Phew! This is so much harder than I thought it would be......

I look at the leaflets and ponder the blurb that the nurse gave me in order to find out what to plan and what to do.

I would write down what I generally eat daily. Then I notice straight away that I eat masses of white bread. "Arrgh... Rubbish Carbs!"

To compound that. At the time I was working permanent night shifts. I would have a sandwich for lunch (breakfast) during the daytime.

I would take two sandwiches as my packing for lunch at work (dinner). These are only the ones I can remember eating daily. Oh Bummer! It's not looking good. Right! It's going to have to be Wholemeal Brown Bread from now on. It's healthier. And I must eat less of it. That would be a lot better for me.

Mmmm! Let me see now..... Pasta. Pasta's really fattening unless you are a marathon runner (stereotypes, eh?). Yeah! That’ll have to go. Rice. I love curry & rice, but it’s a carbohydrate. I utterly refuse to give that up completely though. "Right!!! Only twice a week".

I know,I know.... I'll go to the gym. Years earlier I was very active and fairly fit. Despite me being an extra large person. It shouldn't take me long to get back into it..... Yeah right!

Sorted! - What Could Possibly Go Wrong Eh?

I still hear the laughter ringing in my head
