Eeeek! Why can't I feel my toes?
When the numbness starts kicking in

Diabetic Neuropathy
Phew! That's a big word. What's it Mean?
So when you're not being a good puppy and you're still putting loads of sugar into your body, you might feel the effects in ways you never anticipated. Or you’re just damned unlucky, or perhaps a combination of both factors is at play.
You can develop Numbness in certain parts of your body, which can often lead to confusion and concern about your overall health, especially if you're unaware of the potential consequences of such dietary habits......
For a T2D, this is called Diabetic Neuropathy, an ailment that you may need to manage diligently to maintain a good quality of life and prevent further complications.
I first noticed something was wrong with my feet when I was driving my car.
In England, where I live, most people still had a manual gearboxed car. So we needed to depress the clutch pedal to change gear. When I depressed the clutch, I noticed that the feeling in my toes was becoming strange. I was losing feeling. This didn't just happen overnight, but over a period of time.
I then started noticing the same numbness when I would put my footwear on. Decreased feeling in the ends of my toes. "Mmmmm! Strange I thought to myself". As time went on I started noticing that after partiularly heavy binges on sugary things, the numbness would get worse.
Again, after a session on the Interweb, I was educated on this. I read the possible causes of the numbness in the toes or feet and I choose the most likely for my situation. Plus, I also had a word with my sweet long suffering Diabetes Nurse, Sandy Diabetes, who confirmed my suspicions.
So it is now very real!
Not just fuzzy eyes or diabetic hangovers. Now I have actual physical damage!
Is this permanent damage? Will I end up having my legs chopped off? Can I do something to reverse it? Oh the questions kept coming.
Why Can't I Just Kick the Sugar Habit?
And I'll say it again, just in case you'd forgotten....
So the big quesion here is. Is it reversible? .... Well according to some experts. Yes it is! But! (there's always a but).... The longer this condition is fed by sugar, the less likely it is to be reversible.
Oh Delight. Time for some self-reflection once more.
Arrrgghhh. Why Am I So Weak?
Why this. Why that. Blah. Blah. Blah?
